INGREDIENTS
- 1 (11 ounce) package butterscotch chips
- ¾ cup peanut butter
- 1 (5 ounce) can chow mien noodles (approx. 3 cups)
- 1/2 cup peanuts
- 1 cup mini marshmallows (optional- older recipes do not call for marshmallows)
DIRECTIONS
- Place peanut butter and butterscotch chips in a microwave safe bowl.
- Microwave on high for 1 minute; stir. Continue at 20 to 30 second intervals, stirring each time, until melted and smooth.
- Add the chow mien noodles, marshmallows (if adding), and peanuts; gently mix till covered.
- Spoon mixture onto parchment or wax paper into "haystacks".
- Allow 30 minutes to cool/harden before eating.
- Store in an airtight container.
Notes
This is one of those recipes you can't mess up. You will find a variety of recipes for this candy so put in more of what you like and less of what you don't. The older original recipes do not call for marshmallows but I found that a lot of the newer ones did. I like them without marshmallows and usually do not add them.
