Onion fritters are crisp, golden-brown bites of thinly sliced onions coated in a flavorful batter, fried to perfection for a deliciously crunchy texture with a hint of sweetness from the caramelized onions inside.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 Large Onions finely chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- ¼ cup Cornmeal
- 2 Tablespoons Cornstarch
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- Salt and Black Pepper to taste
- Cooking Oil- enough for frying
DIRECTIONS
- In a large bowl, mix the chopped onions, milk, flour, cornmeal, cornstarch, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir the ingredients until mixed well.
- Pour enough oil into a skillet for frying.
- Using a spoon (or I prefer an ice cream scoop) carefully spoon/scoop the batter into the hot oil. Take a spatula and lightly flatten the fritters so they are thin enough to fry in the amount of oil you have in skillet. Fry the fritters on medium heat until they are evenly browned on both sides.
- Once the fritters are done, remove from skillet and drain on plate lined with paper towels. Serve with your favorite condiment.
